Eco Entrepreneurs

The Eco Entrepreneur program is part of the Rocky Mountain Education Series coordinated through Wildsight- Elk Valley Branch, which aims to assist students in the experience of setting up and running their own business, which makes a social, ecological and financial profit. This program has been designed to re-enforce three key themes:

1. Giving students a choice – where they are given time to reflect on the impact their everyday actions have on the community and the world.

2. Thinking from a more holistic point of view – how businesses can make a positive social, environmental and financial impact.

3. Give students the experience of running their own responsible businesses – the thrills and dilemmas.

This year the students made soap, and a whole lot of it! The profits were split with 1/3 going to a community non-profit, 1/3 going to a school fundraiser, and 1/3 going towards a class project.
